Before developing the mockups, was identified a style guide for the design and development of Digital4Democracy. The style guide includes rules for color usage, font, page layout, tone of writing, and other design characteristics.

The uniformity of an interface through visual and behavioral standards brings benefits such as increased speed and ease of use for users and a reduction in production and support costs. Digital4Democracy follows the AGID (Agency for Digital Italy) guidelines, which are a set of recommendations and best practices for designing and implementing digital services offered by Italian public administrations. The AGID design guidelines recommend using contrasting colors to ensure readability and accessibility for users with visual disabilities and using colors consistent with the administration's branding. The selection of colors is based on elements that distinguish the agency, such as the logo, emblem, and banner, to ensure recognition.
